Maintenance Engineer

Title:  Maintenance Engineer

Summary:

The Maintenance Engineer supports the Asset Management/O&M Homeroom and the Coronal Energy Platform with solving complex Asset Management and/or O&M related problems. He/she coordinates recording and analyzing performance and reliability data by providing necessary IT support. He/she supports upstream development and acquisition of new projects, especially during the commissioning and testing.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supports Maintenance Managers and Asset Managers with solving complex problems
  • Applies knowledge of equipment design to solve complex engineering problems. Selects the best methods or process from among several alternatives
  • Processes available data to identify trends in equipment reliability, installation quality, degradation, etc.
  • Supports Procurement by performing comparative analyses between equipment manufacturers
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends and applications
  • Supports upstream development and acquisition of new projects
  • Supports the integration of new technologies, such as Energy Storage systems by researching and acquiring the necessary understanding of the challenges they present
  • Participates actively in commissioning of new projects; reviews commissioning procedures and test results
  • May represent the Asset Management/O&M Homeroom in a Project Team during earlier sages (Origination, Early Stage/Late Stage Development and/or Construction Phases)

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline
  • 5+ years as Solar Maintenance Engineer and/or complementary combination of education and experience in a service environment that includes electrical systems and power generation plants
  • Familiarity with commercial, industrial and utility-scale electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications
  • Understanding of the relevant electrical codes, building codes, and permitting procedures for medium and large-scale solar projects
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in and /or lead cross functional teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel – up to 10% domestically
