Title: Acquisitions, Director Origination              

Reports to: VP of Acquisitions

The Director of Origination is the face to the solar project development market for the Coronal Energy acquisition program. This person comes to Coronal Energy complete with a Rolodex of contacts that spans the solar industry from project developers to EPC firms to tax equity partners. This person is responsible for combing the market for new project developers and developing long-term, strong relationships with quality developers that have strong pipelines of projects to acquire. Coronal has a goal of acquiring 200 megawatts per year, and the Director of Origination will be instrumental in working with the VP of Acquisitions, Director Due Diligence, Director of Legal and other members of the Coronal Energy Acquisition team to achieve this goal

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Introduce Coronal Energy to new solar project developers using tools like Energy Acuity
  • Develop long-term partnerships with quality solar project developers that have robust project pipelines
  • CRM work with developer community
  • Attend solar industry conferences throughout the year like SPI and others
  • Reach out to investment banks to source deals, and manage process of submitting LOI’s
  • Secure MNDA’s with sellers
  • Help coordinate analysis and valuation of solar projects with the Director of Diligence, legal, project finance and other Home Rooms at Coronal
  • Fill out project model request forms
  • Draft Letters of Intent to acquire solar projects/portfolios
  • Hand off deals to Team Lead at LOI execution

  • Strong attention to detail (small misses lead to huge losses in the solar business)

Qualifications/Skills Required 

Education:  University Degree   

Experience:  Minimum of 3 years of Business Development in the Solar Industry

  • Use of a CRM platform like; past use of to source new contacts a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Experience reviewing project finance models
  • Use of Energy Acuity helpful
  • Strong command of the entire project development process
