Transmission Strategist

Title: Transmission Strategist

Reports to: Vice President, Strategy

Summary:

The U.S. electrical grid is undergoing an unprecedented transformation that will impact all aspects of Coronal Energy’s business going forward. The Coronal Strategy team is looking for an experienced engineer or transmission manager with the ability to think about the grid as a living system, track and anticipate changes, and apply this knowledge to our market and project strategies.

Ideal candidates will have an electrical engineering background and grid-level experience and must demonstrate keen interest in and knowledge of the energy sector, sharp critical thinking and research skills, and a proven ability to efficiently and effectively multi-task in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Transmission/Interconnection and deliverability strategy for campaigns
  • Transmission/Interconnection support for development efforts (utility outreach, scoping meetings, interconnection studies)
  • Management of Transmission/Interconnection-related consultants and contractors (SOW, selection, interpretation)
  • Tracking of regional Transmission planning processes
  • Mastery of relevant features of Velocity Suite and other data services
  • Grid analysis for storage

Education/Experience:

  • Engineering or related background
  • Broad energy market experience
  • Ability to assess impact of evolving grid on Coronal strategy
  • Ability to think about transmission planning for competitive advantage
  • Familiarity with system flow modeling, injection studies, and related analyses
  • Passion for renewable energy
  • Experience with utilities desired

Location:

This location of this role is open, but will ideally be based in San Francisco, CA, or Charlottesville, VA.
